Melbourne plays host to the opening race of the 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, the Australian Grand Prix. It is the first time since 2019 that Australia hosts the season-opener, as BWT Alpine Formula One Team’s Jack Doohan gears up for his second Formula 1 race and his first on home turf.
Located in Albert Park, the 5.278 km (3.280 mi) street circuit known for its mix of fast straights and tight corners. The track winds around the picturesque Albert Park Lake, with 16 turns, including the high-speed Turn 1, a key overtaking spot.
As a temporary circuit, it features wide run-off areas, making it relatively forgiving. The circuit’s combination of fast corners and technical sections provides thrilling racing, while its setting, close to the city centre, creates a unique atmosphere.
